Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is home care? Is there a difference between "home care" and "home healthcare"?

"Home care" is a broad term that includes every kind of medical and non-medical care that can be provided for clients in their home. It differs from "home healthcare", which covers only the kinds of medical services a registered nurse, home visit doctor, or a physical, speech, or occupational therapist might be expected to provide. Sometimes, the phrase "home healthcare" is used to describe the range of medical services and "home care" for housekeeping, companionship, hygiene, and other types of non-medical care.

What services does Allegiance Home Health & Rehab provide?

Allegiance Home Health & Rehab offers the full spectrum of medical and non-medical home care services, tailored to our clients' individual needs. In addition to home care services like homemaking, companionship, and personal care, we also offer a wide range of therapeutic services from medical professionals like registered nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, home care aides, social workers, and more. We can even provide you with technology to safeguard your loved ones in case of nighttime wandering or health emergencies, and to help you stay in touch if you live far away from your parent or senior family member. If you're not sure whether we offer what you need, just ask—chances are we do, or we can. We will almost always find a way to accommodate your needs or to connect you with one of our preferred partners for technology and monitoring solutions.

How are Allegiance's home care workers chosen?

Each of our therapists, registered nurses, nursing aides, social workers, and other caregivers goes through an intensive application process that begins with a criminal background check and extensive screening of personal and professional references, and it doesn't end there. We pay close attention to the newest members of our staff and assess them on a variety of personal qualities, the response of our clients to their care, and the results they achieve. Every one of our team members is required to complete continuing education to provide the most current care strategies to our patients. By choosing only the warmest and most sympathetic caregivers to join our team, we know we're offering you only the best, exactly as we would want for our own families.

How much does home care cost?

Because we offer such a wide range of services and customize our care to suit the abilities and needs of each client, it's difficult to offer standardized pricing. Please contact us to inquire about rates for the services you need.

Medicare Covered

Medicare services are covered 100%.  Look for this icon throughout our website to find more information about what is covered by Medicare.

How quickly can home care services be provided?

We typically process a client's information within 24 hours, assess their home care needs, and introduce them to their new caregiver(s). If there is an urgent need for a nurse, therapist, or nursing aid we are able to process new requests and provide staffing in as little as a few hours, above and beyond standard Medicare guidelines which require a response within 48 hours. Please let us know if your request is critical, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Are Allegiance services covered by Medicare or Veteran's Aid?

Many of our services can be covered by Medicare and/or by Veteran's Aid, although claim approval depends on individual circumstances and conditions. For details see VA Aid and Attendance Pension and Allegiance is Medicare Certified, or contact our offices at any time with questions.

Does Allegiance accept insurance policies?

We are able to accept payments from insurance and from most long-term care policies, and we bill most insurance providers directly. Every insurance policy is different, however, and it's impossible to guarantee that home care will be covered without looking closely at the terms of your policy. If you're uncertain about your coverage, we'd be happy to contact the insurance provider on your behalf and inquire about whether our services are eligible for benefits.

Do you offer home care services to those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities?

We provide care to seniors living independently in their own homes, in nursing care facilities, and in a variety of other housing circumstances. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about the services we can provide in your unique situation.

Do you offer home care services 24/7?

We provide services every day of the year and at any time of day. Our caregivers can visit you at home for as little as an hour or two, or provide full-time, round-the-clock nursing care. We are available by phone 24/7.

Will I have the same caregiver all the time?

Whether you're looking for a physical therapist, an RN, or a nursing aide to provide homemaking and companionship, we believe that the relationship between seniors and their caregivers is what makes this kind of support so powerful. We do our best to pair each of our clients with a home care professional who will work with them for as long as they require our assistance. If you need more than one nurse or nursing aide, you'll be provided with a consistent team of caregivers and introduced to them in advance to ensure a good match. Caregivers are matched with clients based not only on skills and support needs, but also on common interests and complementary personality traits. The difference between Allegiance Home Health & Rehab and other care agencies is that our medical professionals are not contracted out - they are full time employees. This enables us to offer you with continuity of care by providing for the most part the same nurse or therapist.

What if I'm not satisfied with my caregiver?

On the rare occasion that a client is provided with a caregiver who is a less than perfect personality match, we will happily offer a more suitable home health care professional. Your comfort and happiness is our first priority.

What if my nurse, therapist, or aide is sick or goes on vacation?

We know how important it is to maintain consistency in your care plan, so our full staff of caregivers is on call to cover anyone who might be unavailable due to illness or personal time off. We will always call first to inform you of the change and to introduce you to your new care provider, and will also ensure that he or she knows the full details of your care plan.
