If you feel overwhelmed caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease you are not alone. Statistics show that more than 50 million people provide care for a chronically ill, aged family member or friend during a given year. One of the biggest challenges caregivers face is the struggle to maintain one’s own health and well being while assisting in the care of a loved one diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Allegiance’s Parkinson’s Support Group is a forum for patients and caregivers to discuss emotional issues encountered with Parkinson’s disease and strategies to help cope with the disease process. The group is facilitated by a Social Worker in a comfortable and supportive setting. Many patients and caregivers feel a sense of isolation and frustration. Spending time with others that are struggling with similar issues alleviates stress while providing valuable support and education. The forum is a fabulous way for patients and their family members to participate in a therapeutic program together, while socializing with others. If you or someone you know would benefit from a Parkinson’s Support Group or our Parkinson’s Care Program please call (561) 367-0711 for more information. We look forward to hearing from you and providing any necessary support and education.
